YEC Sharing Forum at Adelaide Zoo
50 of the top young leaders from across the State came together at the Adelaide Zoo on Monday 12th September 2011 to share their concerns for the environment and ways they are taking action in their local communities.

The YEC is having a profound ripple effect across SA as each of these 50 students is representing their regional Youth Environment Clusters which involves 544 students from 136 schools across the State.

Some examples of school environmental action plans include:
- Matilda Perry from West Beach Primary School is working with her school community to develop more awareness of environmental sustainability by establishing a butterfly garden, putting up bird boxes and implementing recycling initiatives.
- Eric Marschall from Nuriootpa High School is helping reduce landfill in his school grounds by placing large recycling bins throughout the school grounds and raising awareness about litter management at whole school assemblies .
- Abbie Sorrell from Millicent High School is concerned about native fish populations so is working with her school community on a new breeding program for the critically endangered Yarra Pygmy Perch.
The YEC Executive group consisting of six students will take a summary of the top environmental concerns and environmental action plans to the Minister later in the year.
