Saskia Scott

Saskia Scott was involved in the YEC from year 6 (2003) to year 12 (2009). During that time she was on the Executive as Promotions Team Manager and involved in organising and running many activities including the full council meetings and the FRESH Forums.

Saskia said, “The YEC was a very big part of her life. I have many fond memories and it was a privilege to volunteer with so many wonderful, inspiring people both members and mentors alike.”

She believes the experience she gained from her participation in the YEC has been invaluable. She developed many personal qualities and skills from her involvement including team work, leadership skills, networking, public speaking and grant and proposal writing. She also made some great lasting friendships.

The YEC fostered her passion for and commitment to our environmental, which she has continued through her current involvement in the Australian Youth Climate Coalition (AYCC). The AYCC is the largest youth-run organisation in Australia, and they are currently working hard to build a generation-wide movement to solve the climate crisis.

In 2010 Saskia took the year off from study to work, travel and peruse some of her interests including; art, photography, sewing, social and environmental justice and, spending time with her family and friends. She has plans to study at University in 2011.
