Wes Parker

Wes Parker started off his passion for the environment by attending a workshop run by the Youth Environment Council (YEC) in 2000. From there he got involved in the YEC being a very active member, helping run workshops, attending conferences and government launches.

In year 12 Wes organised a day workshop for year 6, 7 students at the Urrbrae Wetland to teach them all about wetlands and why they are so important. He was assessed on this workshop and presented to the National Australian Association for Environmental Education (AAEE) conference in Adelaide later that year (2004).

Wes has won various awards for his involvement in environmental education ranging from School awards (the prestigious Nick Peach Award for service and contribution to the Urrbrae High School and community), the Mitcham Council Young Citizen Awards in 2005, Life Recognition award for the involvement in Firestarter whom run the youth environmental conferences.

Wes now fills his time in completing a Bachelor of Natural Resource Management and working on organising the South Australia Kids teaching Kids Conference.
