How can I join?

To apply for the YEC, you must:
  • be a South Australian student in Year 7-11 
  • have permission from a parent/guardian
  • have endorsement from a supportive teacher or Principal (e.g. the schools needs to be comfortable with you representing them)
  • understand the expectations of the role of a member and agree to these.
Role of a YEC member expectations
You will be expected to:
  • travel to camps, workshops and forums. These are fully funded. (Travel subsidy provided to rural students)
  • actively participate in discussions, activities and workshops throughout the year
  • undertake a project in your own home, school or community on a sustainability or environmental topic of your interest
  • keep in contact through email, the online forum, face-to-face events and organised online workshops
  • be willing to represent your school and SA in a responsible manner: the same rules of respect and good behaviour that apply at school will apply during all YEC activities.

Each year, the YEC has a limited number of places available. Students from regional areas are encouraged to apply.
